Seriously Cool 3D game; PaperVision says hello to the Force.
“Luke, I am your father”. Now, how many people on this earth can actually say that sentence in proper context ? Well, John Grden can!!!
Our Jedi of the PV3D core team has been working on his X-Wing game for a while now. While PaperWorld (more on that in a later post) is making progress, this tight little game makes you forget it’s actually Flash; or even that you are playing it in a browser. John has wipped his dual sided red(5) lightsaber out and created this incredible Star Wars game over a period of 4 (that’s not a type…4, as in four) weeks. This is modelling, gameplay, code…everything.
I seriously think John has a Clone army waiting on some kind of close, but unknown planet, halve of those helping him out time-wise. Otherwise he must have machined a device to stop time or something…..
The cool thing about all this that it learns alot about the process of creating content with PV3D; while John did this, he learned alot about workflow, and the apparent questions popping up. What amazed me, was that issues I would consider a hard-nut-to-crack, are solved in a very small time frame; some I’d consider easier took more time. There are certainly lessons to be learned, so we can solve issues which popped up from within the Papervision3D engine.
But enough with all the PV3D business talk. Go ahead, show us how strong the force is in you. Race until you have the best time, and you might make the (red5 powered) leader board.
Now, we just sit and wait until lucasarts sues! ![]()
